Bus driver reads a book when driving

Filed under: Bus Passenger Claim — admin @ 7:29 am

Bus companies have a responsibility to ensure they are not at fault for causing injury to passengers whilst on a bus journey. Many injured bus passengers suffer due to the negligence of the driver, this could be through lack of concentration, driving too fast around corners or hitting a vehicle for example.

In an incredible scene, a National Express bus driver could have caused an accident and injury to bus passengers as well as other road users by reading a book whilst he was driving. The bus was on a dual carriageway and the driver was steering with his elbows. This was filmed by a passenger on the bus with a mobile phone. The recording was taken after the passenger got on the National Express bus in Selly Oak, Birmingham. The incident happened on the Bristol Road South, heading out of the City.

National Express West Midlands are taking disciplinary action against the driver of the bus who could be sacked as a result. National Express have made it clear that public safety is their priority and such action by their drivers is not acceptable.

Bus passenger accident claims for compensation often arise from injuries to passengers caused by poor driving by the driver or from the negligence of other road users.
