Car accident for Polar Explorer
Sir Ranulph Fiennes the polar explorer and man who has achieved huge fund raising for charities through various expeditions was involved in a car accident in Stockport last week.
Witnesses to the car accident are being sought by the police. It is possible Sir Ranulph fell asleep at the wheel of his jaguar and caused the accident. Sir Ranulph attended hospital but was not believed to be seriously injured. A Nissan Micra and Ford Focus were also involved in the accident. The driver of the Micra had to be cut from the car, he also went to hospital with injuries, again not too serious, his young son sustained minor injuries as a back seat passenger.
Sir Ranulph had been taking part in a marathon in the Peak District prior to his car accident, it is not known if the marathon played a part in making him too tired to drive safely. Nobody as yet has been arrested for this car accident.
All motorists are advised to take regular breaks when driving long distances or when feeling tired to help avoid road accidents. Drivers who fall asleep at the wheel can be prosecuted for dangerous driving, for which there are stiff penalties.
