The 42 year old worker was working on the production line using a piece of machinery. The machine positions wooden blocks under the roof panels. As the worker was using the machinery some of the wooden blocks got jammed with the machine still running in automatic.

The man tried to free the blocks, but unfortunately after they were freed the machine crushed his wrist between the frame and the blocks.

The man suffered serious injuries to his wrist and was off work for several months and had to undergo three operations to insert a metal plate in to his wrist and to have skin graphs.

The employee when on to claim for his injuries and the court ruled that a two meter high fence surrounding the machine had a broken interlocked gate, which meant employees were able to gain access to the area without needing to make the machine safe to work on.

Unguarded platform fall injury claim

Filed under: Accident at Work Compensation — admin @ 10:33 am

If you are asked to work at height, there should be at all times safety guards around a platform to prevent you from falling to the ground. If you fall from a platform, at height, with no safety guards and are injured as a result, you may be able to make a unguarded platform fall injury claim with the help of the Accident Advice Bureau.

There has been a case reported recently which involved a man working in a textile store.

The man suffered an accident at work, after falling from an unguarded platform onto the concrete floor below. The company was fined £12,000 and ordered to pay £3,056 in costs, as it was found that all workers had no supervision, training or protection against falling from heights of up to 30 feet.

A Health and Safety inspector said “While the injuries suffered were serious, they could have been much worse. A fall from this kind of height can be fatal.”

Lack of help accident claim

Filed under: Accident at Work Compensation — admin @ 10:25 am

If you have been asked to do a job at work on your own that requires two people and have been left injured as a result, you may be able to make a lack of help accident claim with the Accident Advice Bureau.

We have recently accepted such a claim which involved a worker who was asked to do a job on a guillotine. He was cutting wire mesh on the guillotine. Due to the length of the wire mesh (7 feet long), this should be a two man job.

The client and his colleague were doing this when his boss took his colleague off the job, meaning he had to complete the job on his own.

The client had to clean out the loose clippings from the guillotine. To do this he had to lift the heavy 7 foot wire mesh from the guillotine on his own. Due to its size and weight he dropped it on his finger.

He filled in the accident book with his team leader who agreed there should have been someone helping him and this was recorded in the accident book as a reason as to how the accident could have been avoided.

The hospital diagnosed him with a broken finger on its joint. He now suffers from lack of movement in his finger making day to day tasks more difficult.

When he returned to work they tried to get him to sign a concession form, which he refused to do and instead he asked for our help in making a lack of help injury claim.

All accident at work claims are worked on a no win no fee basis where if the claim is won maximum compensation is awarded. Your claim will be hassle free and dealt with as quickly as possible.

The accident happened at Southampton General Hospital.

Everyday slip at work accidents happen due to Health and Safety laws not being followed by the employer or employees of the company. Many of these accidents could easily be avoided if regulations were followed.

Theatre porter accident claim

Filed under: Accident at Work Compensation — admin @ 11:44 am

If you have suffered an accident as a theatre porter and were injured as a result, as long as the accident was not your own fault, you may be legally entitled to pursue a theatre porter accident claim with the help of the Accident Advice Bureau.

A reported case involved a theatre porter who had been working at a hospital for a few years. His responsibilities included helping nursing staff move patients from their beds to trolleys and back. One day as he was doing this, two nurses were supporting one side of a patient whilst he supported the other.  As they were moving the patient, both the nurses lost their grip resulting in the patient rolling on top of the porter’s right hand. This trapped his middle finger and caused him to suffer a crush injury. He went on to receive medical treatment and physiotherapy.

The ported as a result of the accident now has limited movement in his injured finger which has prevented him from working, leaving him frustrated and anxious.

He went on to make a work accident theatre porter injury claim, on the grounds that the two nurses who were assisting him had very little training in the patient transfer procedure and this has led to him being injured.

The hospital went on to admit liability.
