Passengers injured in a bus accident may claim injury compensation from the bus company if the bus driver is at fault for the accident. Bus passengers can also claim compensation if a third party driver is at fault and caused the accident.
On many occasions injured bus passengers face weeks or months of pain from a whiplash injury, back injury or even broken bones due to the bus suddenly braking for no apparent reason. Passengers are sometimes thrown from their seats, hitting their head, legs or arms on the bars in front of them or thrown down the bus aisle and fall to the floor.
If the bus driver is braking heavily for no reason and this causes an injury, it should be reported to the bus driver and the bus company as soon as possible. Any witness details to the bus drivers dangerous driving or heavy breaking for no reason should be taken if possible.
In order to claim compensation from a bus company for erratic driving of a bus, any injury will need to be sufficient to require medical attention from a doctor.

There was a tragic accident that occurred in Penzance in 2009 over the Christmas period. Two women were sadly killed in a bus accident on the icy roads near Penzance. Five other bus passengers were seriously injured. There were also forty seven other passengers who suffered minor injuries.
The bus was carrying passengers on their way from the Christmas lights switch on celebrations when it lost control on ice and ended up on its side. It has been reported that the bus driver has been praised for the way he handled the situation and witnesses have said he managed to avoid a bigger collision. There was nothing he could do about the crash as there was a sheet of ice all the way down the road.
The local council has faced criticism from local people for not gritting the road, but they have defended this saying that the road was only a minor road and therefore was not a priority for gritting.

School children escaped injury when the bus they were travelling on hit a railway bridge, causing damage to the top of the school bus. Forty children were on the bus at the time. The bus accident happened in Cefn-y-Bedd on Wednesday afternoon. The school children had been out on a trip and were travelling back to the Wirral.
The bus passengers were checked for injury and some were badly shaken from the accident. The children were then taken to another school to wait for more transport to get them back.
Network Rail were called to carry out an inspection of the bridge. Arriva Trains Wales which travel on the Wrexham to Deeside line were stopped, but carried on again soon after.
The bus did not get stuck under the bridge, however, damage was caused to the roof.
The bus belongs to Happy Al’s Coaches of Birkenhead.
An ambulance and a rapid response vehicle attended the bus accident scene, the driver was said to be in shock. North Wales police also attended the scene.
Other accidents have happened on the bridge in the last few years. In 2005 a double decker bus had the top ripped off.

A bus passenger accident claim for compensation can be made by passengers who have been injured by bus driver negligence.
The bus accident may be due to the driver braking too hard causing passengers to be thrown in the aisles causing injuries.
A successful bus passenger claim was made by Mr stone, 51, from Kettering in 2006 who suffered injuries due to excessive braking. This caused the passenger to be thrown in the bus aisle. The accident caused Mr Stone to be injured on a bolt which was sticking out from the bus handrail. This caused an injury to his hip and knocked him unconcious. The injured passenger ended up slumped under the windscreen of the bus. In addition to the hip injury, Mr Stone also suffered back and whiplash injuries, which have affected his work.
Mr Stone made a claim against Stagecoach for the accident, which took some time to win, however he was awarded £5,500 in compensation.
Mr Stone said “After four and a half years I have finally got a settlement. I feel so angry. I know there is a compensation culture but people have still got the right to claim for their losses.”
The claim for bus passeneger compensation which Mr Stone made was settled out of court.
