Potholes increase car accident compensation claims

Filed under: Car Accident Claims, Injury Compensation — admin @ 9:23 am

Due to the last severe winter, there has been a huge increase in potholes on our roads and pavements. The increase in potholes has resulted in more claims being made for injury compensation claims, costing councils more money. Due to these potholes costing the councils more money, they are very slow in making the required repairs.

This year, having learnt from last year’s winter, most council’s are trying to be better prepared for a bad winter again, by having better stocks of salt for roads and pavements.

In areas such as Derby and Swindon the local councils have seen compensation claims as a result of potholes more than double. In woking approximately eight hundred people have signed a petition calling for the repair of potholes on damaged roads.

In a recent survey for Continental Tyres, it has been stated that over 10 million drivers have suffered damage to their vehicles as a result of potholes costing them approx £1.2 million in repairs.

Here at the Accident Advice Bureau we have successfully dealt with numerous pothole accident compensation claims for injured people. All accepted claims are worked on a no win no fee basis, where 100% of any injury compensation won is awarded.

Call our friendly claims experts today, who will discuss your case circumstances with and advise you of the next step. In order to make a car accident due to a pothole claim any injuries you have suffered, will need to be diagnosed by a doctor and be on medical records.

Driver hits wall & house suffers minor injury

Filed under: Car Accident Claims — admin @ 9:05 am

In a road traffic accident in Cleveland, a male pensioner was lucky to survive serious injury when the car he was driving went round a bend, left the road and hit a brick wall, then went into a house, smashing a huge hole into the living room. Only the rear of the car was sticking out, the rest of the car had entered the property.

The pensioner, 67, escaped with just bruising from the car accident. The fire service was required to cut him from the car, near Yarm on the A67. A visit to James Cook University Hospital by ambulance was needed to deal with the head injury which had been sustained by the pensioner.

Fortunately the house which the car crashed into was empty at the time and had a ‘To Let’ sign outside.

This bend, where the speed limit goes from 60 to 40mph, has been the scene of previous accidents.

Road traffic accident as taxi gets stuck in water

Filed under: Car Accident Claims — admin @ 7:43 am

Recently on a housing estate in Corby, vandals let off a fire hydrant which caused local flooding, disrupting motorists and householders.

When the fire hydrant was turned on, it caused thousands of gallons of water to collect causing a lake in the street. Children were playing in the water which was up to their waists, making it dangerous. Traffic had to be diverted in the area and a taxi was said to have got stuck in the road.

Work had to be carried out by Anglian Water to turn off the fire hydrant, which was causing a nuisance to cars and local people.

We do not know of any injuries caused to the public due to the escape of water.

Teenager killed on motorway near Crawley

Filed under: Car Accident Claims — admin @ 3:41 pm

Whilst walking along the M23 motorway at around 1.50am on Sunday, the school boy believed to be Scott Turner, who was named on a social networking site, was killed as he was knocked down and run over by several cars in a tragic road accident.

The teenager from Burgess Hill was hit by several cars including a police car as well as an ambulance whilst in the road. The traffic accident happened between the junctions 10 and 10a. This stretch of road is near Gatwick Airport Crawley.

The accident meant the road was closed for more than eight hours as investigations were carried out.

It is thought that Scott had been arguing with his dad at a wedding reception before going for a walk.

A police spokeswoman said “One of the vehicles to hit the boy was an unmarked police car, which was not responding to an incident”. The independent Police Complaints Commission has been informed as a matter of standard procedure.

Witnesses to the pedestrian traffic accident have been asked to contact the Sussex Police.
