A man who was severely disabled in a road traffic accident in Battle, East Sussex in August 2006 has raised nearly £1,500 on 13th March by being pushed in his wheelchair from Eastbourne to Hastings. The money raised is for the air ambulance service which saved him following the road crash accident.

Security worker Bill Brien, 58, from St Leonards wanted to help the Sussex Air Ambulance charity who need £1.7 million each year to keep them airbourne.

Bill’s charity push started at the Eastbourne Town Hall and ended at the London Trader, in East Beach Street in the Old Town of Hastings.

Bill had a team of helpers pushing him, which included his wife.

It was the Kent air ambulance service which saved Bill, the Sussex service started a year after his accident.

County fund-raiser Bridget Pepper said “It is wonderful to think that, since Bill’s accident, we now have a dedicated helicopter to cover Sussex”.

Every year thousands of road traffic accidents happen in Sussex and surrounding areas, many in the Hastings and Eastbourne region, which are greatly helped by the excellent service which the Air Ambulance team deliver.

It is because of such fund-raising events that the Air Ambulance can continue.

Filed under: Car Accident Compensation — admin @ 9:21 am

A driver who caused the death of a pensioner in a driving accident, is due to play football for Oxford United against York City at Wembley in a cup final on Sunday.

Belfast-born Adam Chapman, 20, will play in front of around 50,000 football fans, at the national stadium.

Chapman who admitted causing death by dangerous driving was bailed last week and will be sentenced in June.

Adam Chapman’s car was involved in a head on crash with Tom Bryans Honda car. The car accident happened in North Wheatley, Notts in May 2009.

The dangerous driving by Mr Chapman killed Mr Bryan who was pronounced dead at the scene.  Mr Chapman escaped the car crash unhurt.

Drivers are urged to take more care on the roads as many car accidents from dangerous driving kills, or seriously injures other drivers, passengers or pedestrians every year.

In many cases speeding, using mobile phones, eating and smoking takes the concentration away from drivers, causing accidents, when full attention should be given to the road.
