When visiting our friend’s whether they live in a house, bungalow or flat, the last thing you would expect to happen is to suffer a serious assault, but this can happen. If you do suffer an assault while visiting friend’s, as long as you did not provoke the attack, a compensation claim for being assaulted in a friend’s house may be possible.
Here at the Accident Advice Bureau we have successfully dealt with numerous assault claims, an example of being assaulted in a friend’s house claim, we recently accepted is described below.
Our client was visiting her friend’s house. Whilst at her friend’s house she was lying on a bed with her friend and her brother. A few minutes after they had stopped talking her friend accused her of kissing her brother.
She then dragged her off the bed by pulling her hair and then started to hit her constantly. She was hit several times in the eye, lip and on the nose.
Our client then went to hospital who arranged an appointment to visit the eye clinic. During this appointment she had a CT scan which showed a serious break in her left orbital floor, which resulted in her eye ball dipping and slight double vision.
Our client went on to have an operation on her eye. The police as a result may increase the charge from ABH to GBH. To this day our client is suffering flashbacks of the incident and experiencing pain to the left side of her nose and left eye.
