An assault by a police officer in a cell meant that Pamela Somerville, 59, required stitches above her eye as she was thrown violently into the cell by Sgt Mark Andrews. The assault happened in Melksham police station in Wiltshire and was caught on CCTV. She was seen getting up from the floor with blood pouring from her face. She was taken to Royal United Hospital in Bath.

Ms Somerville, from Chippenham, Wiltshire, works as a market researcher and described the assault as a “horrific nightmare”.

Filed under: Criminal Injury Assault — admin @ 10:49 am

In a horrific unprovoked attack in a Mansfield nightclub, 23 year old mother-of -two, Jenna O’Connor was hit on the back of the head with a glass. She fell to the floor and was then attacked with her own shoe and stamped on.

The violent attack happened in the QI nightclub Mansfield. Ms O’Connor had to have 20 stitches and suffered a broken jaw in the attack. She is now paralysed down one side of her face. She cannot feel her nose, lips or the underneath of one of her eyes.

The violent attack took place on 12 June. Ms O’Connor was with a friend Lucy Hands when the attack happened.

Since 31 March there has been an “excessive” amount of violent attacks and incidents from glass bottle related incidents. The nightclub has had its licence suspended.

Ms O’Connor is too scared to go out since the attack took place.

Mansfield District Council have said that there have been more than five similar attacks and incidents from glass and bottles since March.

There is a review hearing over the nightclubs licence on 5 and 6 July 2010.

Ms O’Connor is unsure if she will get the feeling back in her face, as main nerves were damaged.

There have been two women arrested in connection with the violent attack and released on police bail until July.

We are unaware at this time if a claim for assualt compensation is to be made.

We handle unprovoked assault claims and can be contacted on 0845 10 88 333 or by clicking: Assault Claim.
