Filed under: Factory Accident Claims — AAB @ 2:15 pm December 19, 2011

Factory accidents are accidents that occur whilst working or visiting factory premises. The factory premises where accidents can happen include all areas of the factory building such as the surrounding areas, offices, toilets, staff canteen and stairwells.

If you suffer an accident anywhere on factory premises that was not your own fault and you were injured as a result, then there is a very high chance you may be able to claim factory accident injury compensation.

The most common cause of factory accidents resulting in factory accident claims being made are due to lack of training, carelessness of someone else whilst using dangerous or defective equipment, lack of protective clothing or tools being provided, forklift truck accidents and slipping on wet or greasy floors with no warning signs in place.

The amount of factory accident compensation you will be awarded is determined by a number of factors, but mainly the amount of time you have suffered for as well as the degree of suffering. Activities you have not been able to do due to your injuries will also be taken into consideration. Another factor when determining your compensation amount is by looking at similar cases from the past to compare the level of compensation that was awarded for them.

There has been such a case reported recently which happened at a pet food factory, where five employees suffered severe burn injuries as a result of a high pressure food processing machine malfunctioning.

The five men were carrying out maintenance work to a hydrosat, which is a processing machine that works under high pressure, when they were showered with an unexpected burst of boiling steam and water.

The five men were taken to hospital where they were treated for serious burn injuries.

Health and Safety investigated and discovered that the control systems on the hydrosat, had been replaced just before the maintenance work began and that the company had failed to carry out the required risk assessment for these modifications.

The pet food company admitted to these breaches and was fined £50,000 and ordered to pay costs of £22,634,14.

Man injured in factory accident

Filed under: Factory Accident Claims — AAB @ 2:50 pm March 15, 2011

A factory accident has left an employee injured who then went on to successfully make a factory accident injury claim.

The man, William Jones, 46, was injured when a work colleague decided to jump on his back while he was bent down picking up a tool. This was done as a prank.

A popping noise was heard at the time by Mr Jones. A spinal fusion operation was carried out to repair the damage to his back. This injury has meant that Mr Jones has not been able to work since the prank took place.

Mobility problems now mean that Mr Jones has to rely on family and friends on a daily basis.

The accident in a factory happened in 2006, with the claim for compensation being finalised this week. An undisclosed figure was awarded.

Mr Jones had worked in Peterlee for TRW Systems car parts factory for 21 years prior to his workplace accident. As he was unable to return to work for more than four years due to his injury, he was made redundant.

Mr Jones is unlikely to be able to return to work again according to his GP. He has said he had enjoyed his work.
