Faulty Gym Equipment Injury Claim

Filed under: Sport Injury Claims — AAB @ 10:21 am August 3, 2012

Faulty equipment at the gym can cause an accident and injury to unsuspecting members and users of the fitness centre. Many people when attending a gym train extremely hard and fast and an accident can cause very serious injuries lasting weeks, months or even life long.

The Gym or Fitness Centre have a responsibility to ensure the equipment, whether, rowing machines, cycling machines, running treadmills or weight training equipment for example are regularly checked and maintained to ensure safety.

If you have suffered an injury due to faulty gym equipment, it should be reported to the gym staff and details logged in their accident book, if there were any witnesses, their details should also be recorded.

If the injury, caused by gym negligence, is sufficient to require medical attention, then a claim for being injured at the gym may be possible.

We have many people who want to claim compensation having been injured at the gym due to faulty or broken equipment. The majority of injuries suffered have been broken bones, ligament and tendon damage as well as other soft tissue injuries.

Child injured in Leisure Centre accident

Filed under: Sport Injury Claims — AAB @ 12:20 pm August 18, 2011

A boy was injured when a goal post fell onto his fingers as he was playing in the gym with friends. The child suffered severe hand injuries because the leisure centre staff had not checked to ensure the goal post was secured to the wall.

There were adults in the area at the time and witnessed both the accident and the lack of securing. The accident was reported to the leisure centre staff and details logged in their accident book.

The child was taken to hospital where xrays were taken and a broken finger as well as soft tissue damage was diagnosed. These injuries affected the child at school as writing was very difficult  and he was in a lot of pain.

We were contacted as a claim for injury compensation against a leisure centre was to be made.

Child injured in Leisure Centre accident no win no fee compensation

Any claims against a leisure centre which we handle are done so on a no win no fee basis.

Claims for accidents in a leisure centre for adults must be made within three years of the accident, for chilrens accidents, the timescale is extended. We usually find claims are made sooner rather than later, this often means the informaation which is required to claim is more readily available.

For a child accident claim which is won, the compensation is held in trust until they are eighteen.

Injured in Sports Lesson

Filed under: Sport Injury Claims — AAB @ 9:02 am November 26, 2010

When attending a sports lesson you should be able to do so safely. If you or your children suffer an accident and were injured, if you believe the accident was not your own fault an accident claim after being injured in a sports lesson may be possible with the help of the Accident Advice Bureau.

We have recently accepted a case where our client, a young boy, was in the sports hall of a local school about to start his football training.

While he was in the sports hall there were two other boys who picked up the steel goal posts in order to move them so they could fetch a safety mat. They had to do this as the hall was not set up for their training to start. As the boys moved the goal posts it fell over hitting the boy heavily on his right leg.

The boy screamed in pain and it was only then that one of the two coaches came to see what had happened. At the time of the accident the two coaches were not present in the sports hall and offered no supervision to the setting up process.

Following the accident the coaches offered no first aid, even though he was bleeding. The boy’s parents were not informed voluntarily.

At the end of the training session the clients Grandfather came to pick him up. The coaches were not going to mention the accident to him. It was the boy who told them to get his Grandfather so they could tell him what had happened.

They described it as a minor accident and did not feel that they needed to take any action.

The coaches were asked why the children were setting up, as with all the other classes elsewhere he has been to the hall has already been set up, so lessons can start straight away. The coaches said this was because they liked to encourage independence, but as stated before they offered no supervision.

The boy was taken to hospital by his Grandfather and was diagnosed with an open fracture to his right leg. His injuries are expected to last for at least 7 months.

If you or your children have suffered an accident and injury in a sports lesson, as long as the accident was not your own fault or your child’s fault you may be able to claim injury compensation with the help of the Accident Advice Bureau.

Whilst using a climbing wall, and wearing the correct climbing shoes, she suffered a fall from a height from the wall of around three meters, as she landed her foot went between the two large mats on the ground. The mats were several inches thick and should be joined together without a gap between them.

As her foot got caught between the two mats, she heard a snap. The accident was reported to the climbing centre and put in their accident book.

The lady saw her doctor who diagnosed ligament damage and she was given crutches. Our client suffered a lot of pain and was worried about starting her new job as it involves standing.
