Injured in a trip on a broken kerb

Filed under: Trip on Broken Kerb Stone — admin @ 8:02 am

A trip on a broken kerb has left a mum injured and requiring help at home to cope with the daily life of looking after her young children. The accident happened as the unsuspecting lady got out of her car and didn’t notice the damaged kerb stone as she turned towards the car to lock it. She tripped and fell landing very heavily on her back and needed to go to hospital by ambulance. The trip on the broken kerb accident caused soft tissue damage to her back, wrist and ankle. We have been asked to pursue a claim for injury compensation for the lady.

When slip or trip accidents happen they often leave the injured person with troubles which stretch far beyond the pain. Many people require help at home, help with transport as they are unable to drive or walk to the bus stop, many also have to have time off work and possibly lose wages as a result of the slip, trip or fall accident.

When a defect in the pavement or road occurs, there is usually a responsibility of the local authority to make repairs, to ensure the safety of the public.

Each year thousands of personal injury claims for slipping and tripping are made, many of which could be avoided if the correct maintenance work is carried out by the authority responsible.

If you have been unfortunate enough to be injured in a trip, slip or fall accident on the road, pavement, in a shop or at work, you can find out if a claim is possible by calling 0845 10 88 333 or click: Claim for Slip, Trip Fall Accident.

A Trip Accident on a Broken Kerb Stone

Filed under: Trip on Broken Kerb Stone — admin @ 12:56 pm

A lady in Portsmouth contacted us after suffering an accident on a broken kerb stone. She was with a friend leaving a block of flats, when she crossed the road and didn’t see the kerb was broken. As she stepped onto the kerb she twisted and fell over landing very heavily on her arm. The lady went to hospital where xrays were taken and she was diagnosed with a severely broken arm.

Photographs were taken of the broken kerb and the defect was reported to the local authority who came out and made repairs. We were asked if a claim was possible for the injuries she had suffered.

We accepted the trip accident compensation claim on a no win no fee basis. The claim lasted nearly two years as liability had to be proved, but the time scale was also because the broken arm suffered complications and once liability had been admitted, our injury solicitor did not want to settle the claim too quickly. It is important that the full extent of the injury was known. In order to do this, the the lady attended a medical examination. The lady was awarded, and received, the full amount of £10,000 in compensation for her broken arm, she has thanked us at the Accident Advice Bureau for the way we handled the claim.

We can be contacted on 0845 10 88 333 or by completing a claim form by clicking: Trip Accident Claim.

*100% compensation does not apply to untraced drivers or Criminal Injury (assault). In such accident claims a percentage of the compensation may be deducted by the solicitor.
