Compensation payment stolen from pensioner

Filed under: Claim Compensation — admin @ 10:18 am

A pensioner in Portsmouth was robbed of £9,000 which was his as a result of a compensation claim for asbestosis. The 71 year old who is suffering from Parkinson’s disease, lung disease asbestosis  uses a mobility scooter to enable him to carry on with his daily life.

He was approached by a male who briefly spoke to him and then stole a bag containing money from his scooter. The male made his way towards the multi story car park next to Tesco in Craswell Street Portsmouth. The thief stole the money at around 11am on Friday.

It was when the pensioner was going home after earlier taking the cash money to the bank in Portsmouth, then wrongly thinking the large noted money was being recalled, that he was robbed.

Police are looking for witnesses to the robbery. The police believe the pensioner was followed home from the bank.

The suspect is white, approximately 5’7/8″ and was wearing dark trousers, dark jacket and a white baseball cap.

The police have urged anyone to think twice before carrying large amounts of cash out with them.
