Innocent man bitten by police dog claims injury compensation

A pensioner has been bitten by a police dog. The dog bite happened when the man was gardening and the police were pursuing someone. The police dog, a German Shepherd, bit the man on the ankle and then moved its mouth up the ankle causing a nasty bite injury. The dog bite happened behind Kingston Rugby Club in the Hook Allotments last July. The man couldn’t be heard shouting as there was a police helicopter near by.

The man has made compensation claim for being bitten by a police dog by mistake, for the pain and suffering he has gone through. The bite covered an area of approximately six inches and he still has scars.

The police have offered the innocent police dog bite victim two amounts of compensation, the first being £2,100 which was then doubled to £4,200 when they were told the first amount wasn’t sufficient. The injured man wants £10,000 for his suffering.

Claiming compensation for police dog bites, has resulted in payouts of £770,000 in the last three years across the UK. The Met Police have paid £95,000.
