Here at the Accident Advice Bureau, we have recently accepted a case which involved a lady who suffered an accident on a speed bump within the car park of a pub.

The lady had been to a party at the pub when she left the around 10.30pm to made her way home. She had only drunk a very small amount and was wearing flat shoes. As she left the pubs exit and was walking across the car park she tripped on an unmarked speed bump, which she did not see as it was very dark. The trip accident caused her to fall heavily on her face and front.

A couple who were walking by helped her up, feeling very embarrassed, she continued to make her way home.

The next day she was in severe pain and so she visited her doctor. She was diagnosed with three cracked ribs and a severely bruised face.

The ladies partner went to tell the landlord of the accident the next day who just laughed at him, so a few days later the lady went into the pub herself. The manager said there was no accident book available and that he is intending to paint the speed bump as it has clearly worn away across the section where the trip accident happened.

The worn away paint makes the speed bump very difficult to see at night.

The lady contacted us here at the Accident Advice Bureau and asked for are help in making an accident on an unmarked speed bump injury claim.

All accepted injury compensation claims with us are worked on a no win no fee basis by a specialist personal injury solicitor, where 100% of any accident compensation won is paid out to the injured person.

Superstores and smaller shops have a responsibility to ensure items of stock and products are stacked correctly, so they do not cause a hazard to customers, staff, delivery drivers or any visiting member of the public to the premises.

It is very easy for stock items or baskets and trolleys to fall if incorrectly stacked, potentially causing an injury to someone.

On visiting a B & Q store as a customer a lady was injured when the trolleys were incorrectly stacked, with the front trolley handle propping up the rest of the trolleys behind them. This was not noticed at the time when the front trolley was taken in order to do the shopping. As a result, the trolleys fell onto the lady causing injuries.

The trolley accident was reported to B&Q and logged in an accident book. The lady needed medical attention and the injuries are ongoing several weeks after the accident.

The lady wished to make a claim for injury compensation, which is now being handled on a no win no fee basis by a personal injury specialist solicitor.

If you have been injured due to incorrect stacking of stock in a shop, a claim may be possible with our help.

We are often gathering evidence where there is uneven, unlevel ground, missing drain covers and potholes. These defects often cause a slip, trip or fall accident resulting in an injury, sometimes a very severe injury. This does not always mean a claim for injury compensation can be made though, as it depends on the defect, of which all are assessed individually.

Roads, pavements and car parks are places where many slip, trip and fall accidents happen. It is often the local authority who are responsible for keeping such areas up together. With accidents in car parks, the area could be the responsibility of a supermarket such as Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsburys or another private company who owns the car park.

Any accident suffered should be reported to the people responsible, and photographic evidence should be obtained to show the defect. Ideally the photos should be taken to show the width, length and depth using a tape measure.

The injury suffered in the accident would need to have been diagnosed by a doctor in order to make a claim with us.

All injury compensation claims we handle are done so on a no win no fee basis by a specialist personal injury solicitor.

A slip accident on dark stairs due to a broken light can cause severe injuries which may be claimed for if the light has been faulty for some time and has not been repaired by the people responsible. For example, it may be the local council, a landlord, housing association or a shop keeper who should rectify the fault.

We handle many claims for slipping on wet and dark stairs which often result in soft tissue damage including sprains and whiplash injuries, broken bones and cuts.

Any slip on stairs accident causing an injury, should be reported to the people responsible, so it can be logged in an accident book. It is also advisable to obtain photographic evidence of the faulty or broken light or wet stairs if possible, as well as any witnesses to the accident and defect. The injuries suffered must be sufficient to require medical attention from a doctor in order to make a claim with us.

Claims for being injured in a fall on stairs are handled on a no win no fee basis where the maximum injury compensation will be awarded upon winning.

All claims are handled by specialist personal injury solicitors, who work hard to win all claims we take on.

Recently on a housing estate in Corby, vandals let off a fire hydrant which caused local flooding, disrupting motorists and householders.

When the fire hydrant was turned on, it caused thousands of gallons of water to collect causing a lake in the street. Children were playing in the water which was up to their waists, making it dangerous. Traffic had to be diverted in the area and a taxi was said to have got stuck in the road.

Work had to be carried out by Anglian Water to turn off the fire hydrant, which was causing a nuisance to cars and local people.

We do not know of any injuries caused to the public due to the escape of water.

A little girl thought to be two or three years old was involved in a traffic accident when she got out of her pushchair and was hit by a van in the road. The girl who was thought to have been with her mum was waiting at a pedestrian crossing in St Mary’s Street Lincoln this week just before the accident happened.

The injuries suffered by the little girl are said to be non life threatening. The lorry driver near the scene, who could see what was happening, was said to have sounded the horn and tried to stop traffic, but was unable to. It was a Ford Transit which hit the toddler as it emerged from the High Street.

The police and ambulance attended the scene and took the toddler to Lincoln County Hospital. This was around 3.20 on Tuesday.

Every year thousands of pedestrian accidents happen where they are hit by a car, lorry, van or motorbike. We can help victims of non fault traffic accidents to claim injury compensation following being hit by a vehicle.
